About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain COBOL applications for the banking information system.
- Participate in analyzing functional requirements with business teams.
- Implement functional enhancements for critical applications related to accounts, lending, savings, and payment services.
- Ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of developments.
- Provide corrective and evolutionary maintenance for existing applications.
- Write detailed technical specifications.
- Perform unit testing and participate in user acceptance testing campaigns.
- Analyze and resolve production incidents.
- Contribute to the technical documentation of applications and processes.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, project committees, and design workshops.
- Collaborate with business, functional, technical, and international teams.
- Comply with quality and security standards, as well as regulatory requirements applicable to the banking sector.
- Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure traceability of changes and production releases.
- Participate in OPEN communities of practice, share best practices, and support junior colleagues.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4–5 years of experience in COBOL/Mainframe development.
- Methodical approach, analytical skills, and a strong service orientation.
- Comfortable working in complex, business-critical, and highly regulated environments.
- Able to independently take ownership of technical assignments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team spirit.
- Minimum English proficiency at C1 level required.
- Excellent command of COBOL.
- Good knowledge of IBM z/OS environments.
- Proficiency in JCL, DB2, CICS, and TSO/ISPF.
- Significant experience in corrective and evolutionary maintenance of Mainframe applications.
- Ability to analyze and resolve production incidents.
- Good understanding of development lifecycles and application delivery processes.
- Experience in the banking or financial sector, ideally in retail banking.
