About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design user journeys and interactions that help users complete their goals
- Work with User Researchers, Content Designers, and multidisciplinary teams
- Develop and refine user-centred solutions for government, healthcare, and purposeful-business clients
- Create designs informed by user research and data
- Apply best-practice design principles
- Simplify complex services and processes
- Improve accessibility, usability, and engagement
- Document design decisions and explain rationale
- Support user research to test designs
- Present a relevant piece of work during the interview
- Travel to and attend HQ, hub offices, and client sites across the UK
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience designing to meet user needs
- Ability to create designs and prototypes based on user research and data
- Ability to design solutions that make complex processes easy to understand
- Inclusive and accessible design practices
- Ability to document design decisions and articulate rationale
- Experience supporting user research to test designs
- Experience designing to government service standards
- Methodical and considered approach to problem-solving
- Ability to plan own tasks to achieve project aims
- Ability to respectfully challenge decisions or solutions
- Active Security Check (SC) clearance, or eligibility and willingness to undergo clearance
- Typically, UK citizenship and continuous UK residence for at least the past five years, with no single absence exceeding 28 consecutive days
- Ability to work weekly on-site and travel regularly to UK client locations
- Ability to travel to offices and client sites across the UK
- Desirable: Government Digital Service (GDS) assessment process experience
- Desirable: prototyping tools experience
- Desirable: HTML and CSS experience
- Desirable: Agile delivery team experience
- Desirable: workshop planning and facilitation experience
