Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead planning and implementation of enterprise-level data governance initiatives for a federal agency
  • Configure and administer Microsoft Purview for data cataloging, discovery, classification, and continuous governance
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures
  • Oversee the data catalog, business glossary, data classification, and data lineage
  • Work with Data Owners, Data Stewards, business teams, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to strengthen data quality and governance practices
  • Establish processes for data ownership, stewardship, and accountability
  • Make data discoverable and understandable across cloud and on-premises sources
  • Track governance adoption metrics and identify improvement opportunities
  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance on data governance
  • Create and maintain documentation, governance frameworks, and process guidelines
  • Engage stakeholders and facilitate governance discussions and workshops through to decisions
  • Deliver a trusted catalog, clear ownership, and standards that protect data quality and security

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of data governance or data management experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong hands-on experience configuring and using Microsoft Purview
  • Solid understanding of core data governance and data management principles
  • Proven experience managing data catalogs, data classification, data lineage, and business glossaries
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and technical teams
  • In-depth knowledge of data quality, metadata management, and data security concepts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead and execute complex data governance initiatives independently
  • Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Initial engagement requires United States citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
