About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own queries, stored procedures, views, and logical data models for an assigned part of a federal agency's enterprise data platform
  • Build SQL queries, stored procedures, and views in Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible)
  • Work across Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon S3
  • Design logical data models and database schemas
  • Tune queries and build S3 data loads and connectivity under governed access
  • Ensure assigned database components are accurate and performant
  • Automate data loads and checks previously run manually
  • Build models that continue working as the platform grows
  • Own assigned database work from design through maintenance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of database development experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Working expertise with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible), including schema design, stored procedures and functions, and indexing
  • Experience with Amazon DynamoDB, including data modeling and Global and Local Secondary Indexes (GSIs and LSIs)
  • SQL across complex queries, views, stored procedures, and functions, plus relational design, normalization, and data modeling
  • Query and performance tuning across slow queries, indexing, and execution plans
  • ETL and ELT development and data integration across AWS data services, including Aurora, DynamoDB, and S3
  • Experience working within data security controls, including encryption, access management, and auditing
  • Data loading from S3 into platform stores, plus ODBC and JDBC
  • Logical data modeling and database-design decisions within an established platform architecture
  • Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • United States citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
