About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the queries, stored procedures, views, and logical data models for the assigned part of a federal agency's enterprise data platform
- Build SQL queries, stored procedures, and views in Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible)
- Work across DynamoDB, Amazon S3, and Apache Iceberg tables
- Design logical data models and database schemas for assigned components
- Tune queries and build S3 data loads and connectivity under governed access
- Ensure database components are accurate and performant for analysts and systems
- Automate manual data loads and checks
- Build models that keep relational and platform stores working together
- Own assigned database work from design through maintenance
- Implement, test, and improve database components using AI-assisted developer tools while reviewing and remaining accountable for output
- Collaborate with developers, engineers, data scientists, architects, and strategists across strategy and implementation work
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least four years of database development experience
- Bachelor's degree
- SQL on Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible), working with DynamoDB, S3, and Apache Iceberg tables
- Stored procedures, views, and query tuning
- Data loading from S3 into the platform stores, plus Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and Java Database Connectivity (JDBC)
- Logical data modeling and database-design decisions for assigned components within an established platform architecture
- Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Initial engagement requires United States citizenship
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust determination
- Preferred: Physical-design ownership of Aurora and Iceberg stores, or the drive to grow into it
- Preferred: Access governed by Apache Ranger
- Preferred: Federal information technology or high-volume transaction experience
- Preferred: Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted developer tooling
