About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the quality, lifecycle, and supporting systems of OpenSciEd curriculum derivatives and companion products
  • Work across internal teams and external partners to select, design, and sustainably support derivative products
  • Establish quality criteria and coordinate reviews of derivatives and companion products
  • Prepare actionable analysis for partners to meet quality criteria
  • Build and operate systems for ingesting, distributing, and maintaining derivatives throughout their lifecycle
  • Apply AI to derivative review, intake, and maintenance
  • Support the Learning Commons OpenSciEd knowledge graph
  • Determine which build partners may use the OpenSciEd knowledge graph
  • Use market data to identify partners and derivative products that can increase market share
  • Manage build partners through development, quality review, and product guidance
  • Lead development and revision of AI agent skills for internal work and external partnerships
  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap prioritizing curriculum derivatives
  • Assess market demand, educational need, strategic alignment, organizational capacity, partnership potential, and ROI
  • Identify and advance strategic opportunities with the Chief Product Officer and Chief Executive Officer
  • Lead design and development of selected derivative curriculum products with internal teams and external partners
  • Represent OpenSciEd in national, state, and partner communities to cultivate relationships and promote adoption and impact

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in K–12 education in curriculum development, product management, instructional materials review, or education system leadership
  • Strong knowledge of NGSS and three-dimensional science teaching and learning
  • Ability to review science education products against quality criteria and provide clear, constructive, actionable feedback
  • Ability to acquire and decipher market data to inform product development and potential market share growth
  • Strong knowledge of barriers in the science education market and empathy for educators
  • Strong facility with AI tools and concepts, including data transfer through APIs, MCP, and building AI agent skills
  • Demonstrated success building processes and managing complex, multi-partner initiatives from concept through implementation
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills to build alignment across diverse stakeholders
  • Strong strategic thinking and attention to execution details
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and inclusive design
  • Comfort working in a remote, distributed organization
  • Preferred: 5+ years of classroom teaching experience, preferably science
  • Preferred: Deep working knowledge of OpenSciEd's curriculum and instructional model
  • Preferred: Experience with state standards development, state instructional materials adoption, or instructional materials review
  • Preferred: Experience with knowledge graphs, structured data, or ed tech development
  • Preferred: Experience acquiring and interpreting market data for product development and market share growth
