About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions with clients seeking homeownership assistance
  • Provide guidance on HUD programs, including FHA loans, down payment assistance, and homeownership education
  • Develop personalized action plans based on client needs and circumstances
  • Educate clients on budgeting, debt management, savings strategies, credit management, and homeownership topics
  • Assist clients in understanding the financial implications of homeownership
  • Build productive relationships with bank partners and community organizations for shared client referrals
  • Offer virtual and in-person workshops as requested
  • Enroll clients into the client management system and encourage website enrollment
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships
  • Schedule regular sessions via Zoom, phone, and in-person appointments
  • Monitor client progress through Dynamics CRM
  • Connect clients with resources, services, support networks, financial assistance programs, grants, and community resources
  • Build alliances with community partners
  • Promote Operation HOPE solutions via social media
  • Maintain accurate client activity records according to HUD guidelines
  • Enter and update CRM data daily and report client updates in a timely manner
  • Report to the Director of Operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Housing, Counseling, or a related field, however, comparable 2+ years of work experience in a related field will be considered
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Currently HUD certified, or must pass the HUD Certified Counselor exam within first 90 days
  • Previous experience in homeownership counseling or related roles
  • Ability to conduct group and individual recruitment and training sessions
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to empathize with clients and provide culturally competent guidance
  • Ability to work with minimal hands-on direction
  • Ability to initiate, manage, and maintain several projects and program relationships simultaneously
  • Personal transportation required for travel within the designated market area
  • Commitment to ongoing HUD training as directed
  • Strong knowledge of personal finance, budgeting, debt management, and savings strategies
  • Ability to meet monthly and annual production goals
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage time effectively
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management programs preferred
  • Experience in loan packaging preferred
  • Experience in sales or community outreach activities preferred
