About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and lead comprehensive U.S. and international tax planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals and business structures.
- Lead cross-border reorganization analyses and permanent establishment assessments.
- Provide senior-level guidance on tax treaty applications, FATCA, PFIC, and CFC/GILTI regimes.
- Conduct detailed tax research and prepare technical memos on U.S. and international tax topics.
- Support advisory deliverables related to personal and corporate structuring and tax optimization.
- Advise clients on the design and tax treatment of equity compensation plans, including ISO, NSO stock options, and RSUs.
- Analyze cross-border stock option taxation, sourcing issues, and tax opportunities.
- Support clients with 83(b) elections, AMT exposure, and QSBS qualifications.
- Coordinate with legal counsel on equity plan documentation for international founders.
- Own a portfolio of senior client relationships and serve as the main tax contact throughout the fiscal year.
- Deliver actionable advice to C-suite executives, founders, and general counsel.
- Lead or co-lead client presentations, strategy sessions, and annual tax planning meetings.
- Advise on wealth transfer, estate planning, and cross-jurisdictional compliance.
- Review and sign off on federal and state income tax returns and international filings, including Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, and 8865.
- Monitor IRS and Treasury regulatory developments and translate their impact for clients.
- Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives, technical memos, and client-facing educational content.
- Drive business development through proposals, speaking engagements, and thought leadership content.
- Collaborate with senior partners on strategic client initiatives.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Law degree with a specialization in tax law (Avocat fiscaliste, Master 2 Fiscalité internationale, LLM in Taxation, JD with tax focus, or equivalent).
- Bar admission (French, U.S., or other jurisdiction) is a strong plus.
- 2–5 years of experience in tax advisory in a law firm, Big 4, or boutique international tax practice.
- Demonstrated expertise in U.S. inbound/outbound tax matters, cross-border structures, and international tax frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with equity compensation plans (stock options, RSUs) and their cross-border tax implications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills — able to translate dense tax analysis into clear client advice.
- Proficiency with tax research tools: Bloomberg Tax or CCH.
- French fluency is required.
- Spanish, German, or other European languages are a plus.
