About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assist with single- and multi-discipline heavy industrial engineering projects
Perform structural inspections of existing facility steel structures and fireproofing
Prepare conceptual drawings, sketches, and material take-offs for concrete and steel
Create detailed design drawings for foundations, grading plans, underground piping/drainage, structural steel piperacks, and supports
Review vendor shop/fabrication drawings
Collaborate with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers and designers
Update design drawings from redline markups
Perform field engineering and structural inspections within the work scope
Review structural drawings for errors and omissions
Review project contract documents to ensure quality and accuracy
Attend weekly project meetings to review design and project progress
Review and update CAD standards as needed
Mentor Junior Designers and provide first-level oversight
Conduct field verification at industrial client sites when required

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma required
AS degree from a technical trade school preferred
5+ years of civil/structural drafting and design experience with structural steel and reinforced concrete in heavy industrial environments
Knowledge of industry standards
Proficient with AutoCAD 2D
Proficient with AutoCAD Plant 3D
Proficient with Revit 3D Modeling of structures
Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Proficient with CadWorx
Experience with Advance Steel Software desired
Experience with the latest version of Navisworks is a plus
Experience with Steel Detailing is a plus
Possession of an active TWIC Card or ability to obtain one immediately once hired
Ability to pass a post-offer drug, including marijuana, and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations
Subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment
Ability to work in heavy industrial facilities
Ability to walk one to two miles in industrial facilities
Ability to work in elevated work conditions
Ability to perform field surveying, take measurements, reference benchmarks, and create detailed field notes and sketches
Self-starter able to work independently with little direction
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding and aptitude in current computer software, CAD systems, Microsoft Office products, and design software
