About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and ship production mobile features with React Native, Expo, TypeScript, and Expo Router
Own architectural decisions across state management, data fetching, offline behavior, navigation, and the mobile build/release pipeline
Build geospatial experiences with MapLibre, including real-time location and map interactions
Improve performance and reliability across startup time, animations, lists, memory, battery, and crashes
Establish reliable testing with Jest, React Native Testing Library, and Maestro
Own production delivery with EAS, including builds, signing, releases, and app store readiness
Contribute to backend APIs when useful
Establish engineering standards as the team grows
Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery without compromising quality

Requirements

What you’ll need

Several years of professional software engineering experience
At least two production React Native apps with real users
Strong React Native, TypeScript, and Expo experience
Experience with the New Architecture, including Fabric, TurboModules, and Bridgeless
Experience with mobile performance, testing, observability, and production releases
Hands-on experience with MapLibre, Mapbox, Google Maps, or comparable mobile mapping technologies
Evidence of owning architecture or major technical decisions
Strong engineering judgment and pragmatic problem-solving
Ability to work independently in a small team
University-level technical education in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
Eligible to work in Germany
Eligible for EU/NATO security clearance where required
