About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist the Veterans Trust Officer in carrying out the Director’s obligation as conservator
  • Pay routine bills within budgeted guidelines after budgets are established
  • Respond to simple requests for funds from and for protected persons
  • Work with medical providers, merchants, utility companies, government agencies, and community resources
  • Ensure obligations are met and benefits are received
  • Promote a positive, equitable, respectful, and inclusive work environment
  • Periodically travel to the ODVA Salem office and sites around Oregon as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience including coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis; OR
  • An associate degree in general office occupations and two years of qualifying secretarial or administrative support experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience working with vulnerable and challenging populations using a trauma-informed approach
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills engaging with clients and families under stress
  • Ability to foster respect, inclusivity, and appreciation for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and values
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve competing and urgent needs in alignment with client interests
  • Ability to provide recommendations to primary decision-makers
  • Honesty and integrity when managing protected persons’ financial matters
  • Successful completion of a fingerprint-based criminal history background check through Oregon LEDS and National NCIC systems
  • Valid Oregon or Washington State driver’s license
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check with ongoing monitoring
  • Certified National Guardian or ability to obtain certification within 1 year of hire
  • Authorization to work in the United States; ODVA does not offer visa sponsorship
