About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide care coordination for adults in custody releasing from treatment into the community
  • Assist with housing, transportation, clothing, SUD aftercare, mentoring, medical, and mental health referrals
  • Collaborate with system stakeholders to identify resources
  • Refer adults in custody to community providers for care
  • Perform assessment, treatment planning, psychosocial skills development, behavior management, milieu management, case management, and care coordination
  • Facilitate groups as needed
  • Interact with institution staff, agencies, individuals, and groups interfacing with ODOC
  • Travel and work on rotating shifts between Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville and Columbia River Correctional Institution in Portland
  • Work inside an adult prison and maintain vigilance while interacting with adults in custody

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field; OR at least three years of relevant work, education, training, or experience; OR current Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) certification; OR qualified Mental Health Intern status
  • Applicants must be credentialed as a QMHA or meet the criteria for credentialing
  • Knowledge of evidence-based, trauma-informed, gender-responsive treatment interventions for adults with substance-related and co-occurring mental health disorders
  • Experience providing skills training and case management for individuals impacted by substance-related disorders and/or persistent mental health disorders
  • Timely completion of clinical documentation for individual encounters
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record, or acceptable alternative transportation
  • Must pass a CJIS fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility
  • Must satisfy PREA employment requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; ODOC does not offer visa sponsorship
  • CADC-I with MHACBO preferred
  • Knowledge of the chronic disease approach to substance use disorder treatment preferred
  • Experience with justice-system-involved clients or mandated populations preferred
  • Curriculum-based group facilitation experience preferred
  • At least 1 year of case management or equivalent care coordination/resource navigation experience preferred
