About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure ODHS data infrastructure is secure, reliable, efficient, and scalable
- Enable high-quality reporting, advanced analytics, and self-service BI capabilities
- Transform complex transaction data into data warehouse models, including star schemas and semantic layers
- Contribute to modernization and migration from on-premises data warehouses to Snowflake
- Collaborate with ODHS business partners to understand processes, workflows, data needs, and reporting requirements
- Translate business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Design, develop, and implement Power BI semantic models
- Identify and integrate data from multiple sources
- Design, develop, and maintain solutions across SQL Server and Snowflake environments
- Establish and document RBAC, encryption, data masking, metadata, data lineage, and governance standards
- Apply database and data warehouse best practices for indexing, partitioning, clustering, performance, scalability, reliability, and cost effectiveness
- Troubleshoot complex database and data warehouse issues and recommend scalable, cost-effective solutions
- Collaborate with DBAs, data engineers, BI developers, reporting teams, business partners, leadership, and external partners
- Promote and foster a diverse, qualified, discrimination- and harassment-free workplace
Requirements
What you’ll need- Six (6) years of information systems experience in analyzing business processes and data requirements; translating them into conceptual, logical, and physical data models; designing and implementing data warehouse solutions; and developing governed semantic models for enterprise reporting, analytics, and self-service business intelligence; OR
- Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or completion of a two-year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field, and four years of qualifying information systems experience; OR
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and two years of qualifying information systems experience; OR
- Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, which may substitute for all other qualifications
- Advanced experience designing and developing enterprise data warehouse solutions using SQL Server, Snowflake, or similar platforms
- Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT workflows and data integration solutions using SQL, Azure Data Factory, Python, or similar technologies
- Experience with conceptual, logical, and physical data models, dimensional models, and star schemas
- Experience designing, developing, and implementing Power BI semantic models, including relationships, measures, DAX, and row-level security
- Experience applying data governance, security, metadata, data lineage, performance, and DevOps practices
- Strong communication, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing skills
- Required cover letter describing how the candidate meets the essential attributes and minimum qualifications
- Resume or completed work history profile required
- Ability to report to the Salem office when training, business needs, or operational requirements necessitate on-site participation
- Criminal history and background check required if selected
- Authorization to work in the United States; Oregon DHS does not offer visa sponsorship
- Must be approved by CJIS through a fingerprint-based national criminal background check
- Must complete appropriate CJIS Security Awareness Training
