About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage Oregon’s fiscal transparency initiatives
- Provide the legislature, school districts, and public with access to financial data from Oregon’s public education system
- Oversee accounting data integration, financial reporting, and audit alignment
- Manage professional staff
- Collaborate with program leadership, IT teams, and district partners
- Ensure development of accurate and accountable financial data systems, dashboards, and reporting tools
- Lead Oregon’s K-12 financial reporting and transparency strategy
- Direct financial systems modernization and data governance
- Lead staff, partnerships, and continuous engagement and improvement efforts
- Review fiscal transparency initiatives with staff and project leads
- Collaborate with internal Department teams and external partners
- Participate in leadership discussions regarding strategy, outcomes, and future plans
- Attend in-person meetings, presentations to the legislature, and district visits as needed
- Travel as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Seven years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience; OR four years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives, organizational priorities, performance measures, and long-term plans
- Demonstrated experience leading governmental accounting, financial reporting, auditing, fiscal compliance, budget oversight, or financial systems administration
- Experience with chart of accounts structures, financial data governance, accounting system modernization, audit reconciliation, internal controls, or statewide reporting processes
- Experience interpreting and applying complex accounting standards, laws, regulations, and reporting requirements
- Demonstrated experience building stakeholder and partner relationships and facilitating collaboration
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale projects or organizational change initiatives involving process improvement, systems implementation, technology modernization, data integration, or cross-functional collaboration
- Demonstrated experience developing or improving data reporting systems, dashboards, business intelligence tools, performance measures, or public-facing information resources
- Demonstrated experience supervising, coaching, mentoring, hiring, evaluating, and developing professional staff
- A driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, a personal vehicle, or an alternative means of transportation are required
- Reliable and secure internet connection and a professional remote work environment
- Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not offered
