About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct investigations to determine employer compliance with workers’ compensation coverage requirements and the subjectivity of injured workers
- Gather and analyze information
- Interpret workers’ compensation laws, rules, and policies
- Issue proposed orders and impose sanctions for noncomplying employers
- Provide technical assistance to regulated employers
- Educate employers and increase awareness of workers’ compensation coverage requirements
- Work within the Workers’ Compensation Division, which administers, regulates, and enforces Oregon workers’ compensation laws and rules
Requirements
What you’ll need- Four years of experience doing administrative research involving compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action or decide compliance with program guidelines and regulations
- Two of the four years must be above the technical support level
- College-level coursework may substitute for experience at 45 quarter units per year, up to three years
- Expert communication skills, including the ability to diffuse hostile situations
- Expert proficiency in writing reports, proposed orders, and subpoenas
- Ability to work independently and manage work efficiently
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Fingerprint background check for job-related convictions
- Authorization to work in the United States; DCBS does not offer visa sponsorship

- May be required to complete a skills assessment, writing sample, or video interview
