About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Budget Planning and Analysis Unit
- Perform budget analysis activities, including project management and budget monitoring
- Apply knowledge of state and federal budgeting and financial processes
- Support management and staff through budget development
- Conduct complex forecasting of cost impacts
- Evaluate expenditures against budgets to ensure programs have sufficient revenues
- Participate in policy strategy development
- Analyze financial impacts of proposed policies with a focus on health equity
- Provide data used to support agency mission processes
- Deliver information to agency, legislative, executive, governmental, and non-governmental officials
- Oversee interrelated programs and budgets across the agency
- Provide expertise on assigned programs and budgets
Requirements
What you’ll need- Five years of progressively responsible experience including preparation, analysis, and administration of a budget or fiscal system; OR
- Five years of professional-level experience in accounting, fiscal auditing, management, or program analysis, including modeling, forecasting, and analyzing fiscal information; OR
- Successful completion of the Department of Administrative Services Budget and Management Public Administrative Trainee Program
- A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public or Non-Profit Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related degree may substitute for three years of required experience
- A graduate-level degree in the listed areas may substitute for four of the five years
- Ability to interpret and analyze large datasets and financial information and produce reports from multiple accounting and financial systems
- Experience with business intelligence systems such as Power BI, Oracle, Business Objects, or Datamart
- Experience with governmental accounting systems (SFMA) and understanding of governmental accounting principles (GASB)
- Ability to analyze expenditures and revenues against projections
- Experience investigating, identifying, and resolving financial data anomalies
- Ability to produce high-quality deliverables with accurate analytical precision
- Ability to explain agency budget information and assist program staff in understanding and tracking program budgets
- Ability to produce clear written and verbal narratives around budget and financial needs
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Willingness to collaborate, share information, and contribute to team success
- Experience promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and independent judgment within a team setting
- Current resume and complete, accurate supplemental-question responses
- Employment contingent upon a criminal records check meeting OHA criteria
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; position does not provide visa sponsorship
