About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the DevOps Experience Program
- Ensure the quality, reliability, and compliance of DOJ information systems
- Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive testing across the development and deployment lifecycle
- Partner with developers, project managers, business analysts, product owners, and security
- Embed quality gates in the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from inception through release
- Validate system changes and strengthen performance, stability, and user confidence across DOJ technology services
- Develop and maintain QA plans and test strategies
- Establish automated regression testing capabilities for new and existing information systems
- Follow quality standards, acceptance criteria, and test-phase entry/exit criteria
- Design, coordinate, and execute test cases and scenarios across releases, upgrades, and configurations
- Document and triage defects, perform root-cause analysis, verify fixes, and validate resolutions
- Translate business requirements into testable conditions and ensure traceability to test cases
- Maintain test plans, scripts, datasets, evidence, and quality documentation
- Build and maintain QA dashboards and reports tracking defect rates, coverage, cycle times, and process outcomes
- Analyze trends and recommend improvements to IS leadership
- Identify QA procedure gaps and recommend corrective/preventive actions
- Support DOJ and statewide IT governance, accessibility, and security compliance
- Maintain stable, secure, representative test environments across application stacks
- Coordinate configurations, data refreshes, access controls, code repositories, and environments
- Validate deployment plans, run books, and rollback procedures before release
- Define acceptance criteria and facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Capture and route feedback and integrate findings into final releases
- Provide training and guidance on QA processes and tools
- Share how-to resources and contribute through coaching and knowledge transfer
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Four (4) years of information systems experience
- Education counted as experience if the degree is in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or if a two (2) year accredited vocational training program was completed in information technology or a related field
- Associate’s Degree (or 2-year vocational training) = Two (2) Years
- Bachelor's Degree = Four (4) Years
- Master's Degree = Six (6) Years
- 1+ year of comprehensive knowledge and experience in programming Java
- 1+ year of information systems experience designing and executing test cases in automated testing tools following software quality assurance methodologies
- Finalists must pass a comprehensive employment reference check
- Finalists must pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check
- Must reside in the state of Oregon by the time of appointment
- Java development experience
- Experience with Java-based automated testing tools such as Selenium, Appium, TestNG, Specflow, or similar
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple testing priorities in a fast-moving backlog environment
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
- Ability to design and execute test cases, scripts, and scenarios
- Experience with software quality assurance methodologies and SDLC/Agile practices
- Experience contributing to quality assurance automation frameworks or CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of data validation, SQL querying, or API testing
- Attention to detail and accuracy; commitment to quality, process improvement, and service delivery excellence
- Strong communication skills to support defect reporting and UAT guidance
- Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, analysts, project managers, and product owners
