About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide trauma-informed advocacy to crime victims and survivors
  • Explain victims' rights, the juvenile justice process, and OYA programming
  • Assist with victim impact statements
  • Deliver culturally responsive services emphasizing access for monolingual Spanish-speaking victims and survivors
  • Build and maintain referral networks of culturally specific and culturally responsive victim service providers and community organizations
  • Coordinate with county juvenile departments, district attorney victim advocates, Juvenile Parole/Probation Officers, and treatment teams
  • Share victim input and safety concerns and support seamless case transitions
  • Support restorative services, including the victim-offender dialog program and Responsibility Letter Bank Program
  • Help victims understand and exercise their rights, navigate the juvenile justice system, connect with community services, and participate in restorative services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program; OR equivalent combination of education and three years of technical-level experience
  • Minimum qualifications must include direct services, advocacy, case management, or support to individuals or families in a victim services, human services, social services, community-based, or justice-related setting
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking both English and Spanish; candidates will be tested in all three areas
  • Deep understanding of the Latine community, including the history of oppression and discrimination
  • Experience in direct advocacy or support for crime victims and survivors
  • Knowledge of criminal and/or juvenile justice systems
  • Experience building relationships with internal teams, agency staff, community partners, and culturally specific organizations
  • Experience supporting or facilitating restorative practices
  • Experience designing or delivering training, presentations, or community education
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities, maintain attention to detail, and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to report to the Salem office 2–3 times a week as necessary for approved hybrid work
  • Broadband internet connection and private workspace for approved remote work
  • Must pass criminal record, driving record, vulnerable population abuse and neglect, and other applicable pre-employment checks
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not offered
  • Must serve as a mandatory reporter of child abuse
