About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead research, development, and implementation of statewide academic content standards and High-Quality Instructional Materials in science
  • Provide technical assistance and professional learning to local education agencies and educators
  • Support consistent use of equitable and rigorous instructional practices aligned with High-Quality Instructional Materials
  • Collaborate with science, math, and integrated STEM education leaders in ESDs, districts, state and national organizations, and community partners
  • Develop and maintain science academic content standards and assessment practices
  • Develop and maintain High-Quality Instructional Materials for science, math, and integrated STEM education
  • Provide technical support and training to educators, administrators, and LEA staff
  • Build partnerships and leverage resources, including federal funding, to expand school-wide and district-wide instructional capacity
  • Support implementation of ODE's strategic plan
  • Track research and best practices around High-Quality Instructional Materials implementation
  • Contribute to High-Quality Instructional Materials communications with internal and external partners
  • Travel statewide to schools, districts, ESDs, conferences, and partner meetings for technical assistance, professional learning, and partner engagement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Five years of education experience in the specialty area under recruitment
  • Two years of leadership experience in the specialty area under recruitment
  • Doctorate in Education or related field may substitute for two years of education experience, but not leadership experience
  • Oregon Standard Administrative License may substitute for two years of leadership experience
  • A driver's license, acceptable driving record, personal vehicle, or alternative transportation
  • Reliable and secure internet connection for approved remote work
  • Professional work environment supporting productivity
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; Oregon Department of Education does not offer visa sponsorship
  • Cover letter of no more than two pages and current resume required
  • Application materials must include dates of employment
