About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze and accurately record a variety of accounting transactions while meeting daily deadlines
  • Research accounting records and prepare management reports
  • Maintain accurate records for state-owned property
  • Review Home Loan system reports for accuracy
  • Perform accounting functions including transaction analysis, account reconciliation, adjusting entries, and financial-record maintenance
  • Manage assigned state and federal grant accounting activities, controls, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Prepare expenditure, revenue, budget, projection, and other management reports
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and recommend process and financial-control improvements
  • Support Home Loan, Accounts Receivable, and Treasury-related activities, including payments, escrow monitoring, returns, and monthly transactions
  • Collaborate with agency staff, provide accounting guidance and backup support, participate in special projects and meetings, and resolve issues
  • Work at ODVA Headquarters in Salem, with possible hybrid work and occasional travel to ODVA offices and sites

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Accountant 1 qualification through one of: Certified Public Accountant or Certified Government Financial Manager certificate; bachelor’s degree in accounting; successful completion of the State of Oregon Accounting Career Mobility Program or equivalent accounting certificate program; or 32 quarter (21 semester) accounting credit hours plus two years of specified technical, paraprofessional accounting experience
  • Underfill Accounting Technician qualification through one of: two years of specified accounting experience; one year of specified accounting experience plus 43 quarter (29 semester) credit hours including accounting; successful completion of the State of Oregon Accounting Career Mobility Program or equivalent accounting certificate program; or 94 quarter (62 semester) credit hours or an associate degree including accounting coursework
  • Training or experience using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information
  • Experience analyzing transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing adjusting entries, and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Knowledge or experience with state and/or federal grant accounting, SFMA, financial controls, reporting requirements, applicable laws, regulations, and GAAP
  • Ability to analyze financial information and prepare expenditure and budget reports
  • Ability to research complex accounting issues, resolve discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend improvements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, process transactions accurately, meet daily and recurring deadlines, and complete special projects independently
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively and work collaboratively
  • Ability to resolve issues independently and collaboratively with strong attention to detail
  • Successful completion of a fingerprint-based criminal history background check through Oregon LEDS and National NCIC systems
  • Valid Oregon or Washington State driver’s license required, with Motor Vehicle Record check and ongoing monitoring
  • Authorization to work in the United States; ODVA does not offer visa sponsorship
