About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist the public with obtaining Real ID licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards
- Serve as the primary office representative for Real ID transactions
- Accurately produce photo licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards
- Administer, correct, and explain driver license knowledge tests
- Conduct vision tests
- Explain state and federal requirements for driver and identification transactions
- Provide customer service while following privacy laws
- Answer complex questions from customers with diverse backgrounds
- Collaborate with office leaders and managers to support efficient Real ID operations
- Examine documents for eligibility before issuing credentials
- Prepare daily reports and balance transactions at the end of each day
- Travel to other offices in the region for relief work
- Work in a DMV office with extensive face-to-face public interaction
Requirements
What you’ll need- Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving dealing with the public in person or by phone and providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying rules, regulations and procedures
- Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data
- Three months experience collecting money and making change
- Completion of an associate’s degree may substitute for one year of public contact experience
- Ability to type at least 30 words per minute with a high level of accuracy
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with stressful situations
- Demonstrated computer literacy and reading comprehension skills
- Experience providing excellent customer service
- Experience handling multiple assignments with frequent interruptions
- Experience effectively interpreting complex rules and policies to customers or clients
- Ability to work in the US; no visa sponsorship available
- Successful completion of required background and pre-employment checks
