About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle complex commercial litigation matters involving business disputes, contracts, and construction-related claims
- Manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation
- Draft persuasive motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents
- Develop case strategies and pursue resolutions through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation
- Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, depositions, and settlement discussions
- Analyze contracts, business records, and legal issues to develop practical solutions
- Build strong client relationships
- Collaborate with experienced attorneys on sophisticated matters
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active New York Bar license/admission
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- 4+ years of commercial litigation experience
- Experience with New York State court proceedings
- Experience handling discovery
- Experience drafting substantive motions
- Experience participating in depositions
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to manage litigation responsibilities independently while collaborating with a team
- Experience with construction litigation, contract disputes, or complex business disputes is a plus
- Excellent communication, organization, and client relationship skills
- Court appearances and occasional in-person professional obligations may be required
