About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide superior customer service while maintaining a safe and secure environment for Orlando Science Center guests and team members
  • Remain on the floor for 90% of the shift during public operating hours
  • Open and close the facility according to established procedures
  • Conduct walkthroughs of the facility, parking garage, and building exterior; document and report needs or concerns
  • Respond promptly to radio, cell, or landline requests
  • Interact with guests using the Customer First Approach and obtain visit feedback
  • Accurately document shift activities in the House Managers logbook, including incident reports, logs, and records
  • Communicate show failures, facility maintenance challenges, and safety concerns to appropriate personnel
  • Assist with emergency first aid, CPR, AED, and fire evacuations; work with government agencies, fire, police, or FDLE as needed
  • Assist in locating lost children and/or guardians
  • Monitor and assist with crowd density in public areas
  • Support Shipping and Receiving, Mailroom, and Copy Center operations when the Mail Room Clerk is absent
  • Report problems or concerns to the Manager of Operations and/or Vice President of Operations
  • Conduct monthly Facility Safety and Fire Extinguisher Inspections
  • Inspect restrooms, exhibit areas, and public areas to increase janitorial team efficiency
  • Participate as part of the ride out crew when warranted
  • Support Facilities and LIFE with after-hour emergency needs during shifts
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience in the customer service field
  • Ability to remain calm, take appropriate action and maintain a professional attitude in safety, security and emergency situations
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position and move throughout the museum
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, or other equipment
  • Ability to observe and react to the needs of guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information in person, electronically, and over the phone
  • Ability to operate a computer and/or office equipment efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to manipulate and move components weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work occasionally outdoors and frequently indoors
  • Ability to kneel and crouch frequently
  • Ability to work weekends and after-hour events as needed
  • Preferred: 2–3 years of customer service experience
  • Preferred: 1–2 years of security or related experience
  • Preferred: Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
