Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide general operations and maintenance support to maintain high plant availability
  • Perform condition monitoring and optimization
  • Develop and implement predictive and preventative maintenance best practices
  • Develop and maintain the maintenance management system
  • Develop and maintain the critical spares program
  • Remotely monitor asset health
  • Operate batteries, including start-up, shutdown and emergency operations
  • Perform routine and non-routine preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment
  • Conduct plant rounds, log operating parameters and adjust equipment as required
  • Schedule and coordinate field activities with operations management
  • Requisition and assist with ordering and receiving plant materials
  • Represent the Company with vendors and regulators as assigned
  • Troubleshoot equipment and systems using test equipment, technical manuals, system drawings and electrical schematics
  • Program and troubleshoot field equipment
  • Respond to emergency situations and quickly access all areas of the plants
  • Adhere to and enforce VESI, NFPA70E and OSHA safety procedures
  • Work with contractors and temporary labor during onsite activities
  • Respond to remote troubleshooting requests while on call
  • Travel overnight approximately 25% of the time
  • Maintain equipment-operation trend reports
  • Complete plant reports and perform other assigned duties and projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma with at least two (2) years of technical training in operations and routine maintenance of battery storage, power plants and four years of experience working in a power plant or an equivalent environment
  • Thorough knowledge of operating a power plant or battery storage facility
  • Thorough knowledge and/or background operating and maintaining mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of PLC-based instrumentation and control systems
  • Ability to understand engineering design drawings, vendor equipment drawings and technical information
  • Proficient in hand tools, power tools and test equipment normally used in a power plant environment
  • Thorough knowledge of plant hazards and safety requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of computer-based preventive maintenance programs
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel and other programs
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier
  • Ability to make effective long-term and instantaneous decisions
  • Ability to solve problems and attention to detail
  • Ability to balance competing priorities
  • Familiarity with standard power plant PPE and its proper use
  • Availability for off-shift call-in
  • Ability to work independently and be the only company person on site
  • Ability to travel to other company sites
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and harsh weather conditions
  • Ability to wear a variety of protective equipment
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to sit 30% and stand 70% of the time
  • Ability to work at a computer and monitor for long periods while staying alert
