About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as the subject matter expert on business and technical domains
Lead planning, execution, and release of complex technical projects across multiple teams
Own medium to large features or infrastructure projects from technical design through completion
Design and develop enhancements to claims and payment processing systems
Work across contract and pricing configuration, internally developed DSL extensibility, and data pipeline architecture and efficiency
Selectively apply AI to automate and improve tedious, error-prone processes
Work with partners, product managers, and designers to solve challenging problems
Lead and mentor engineers and engineering teams
Set overall team direction and apply best practices
Ensure delivery of large or complex technology capabilities across domains
Facilitate cross-team collaboration and mitigate project risks
Drive functional-group and organization-wide project outcomes
Prioritize technical roadmaps and influence product roadmaps and process enhancements
Identify and reduce failure domains
Build software that minimizes maintenance effort and business impact during failures
Guide development of Service-Level Objectives for responsible systems
Report to the Director, Software Engineering
Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of professional software engineering experience
5+ years of experience as a leader of cross-pod or cross-company deliverables
5+ years of experience leading technical contributions and improving team output quality
5+ years of experience with practical application of computer science concepts within a team
5+ years of experience setting and enforcing standards for stable, correct, and maintainable code
5+ years of experience leading technical teams, including mentoring and training junior engineers
Experience with a variety of technologies
Experience building fault-tolerant and scalable software systems
Expertise in practical application of computer science concepts
Ability to comply with all applicable laws and regulations
