About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to adult outpatient infusion patients
  • Assume responsibility for assigned patients or patient groups
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
  • Assist physicians with examinations, minor diagnostic procedures, and treatments
  • Obtain and monitor patient physiological data and intervene when necessary
  • Administer prescribed medications
  • Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products
  • Deliver patient care safely and competently
  • Resolve patient complaints in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff
  • Inform patients and families about hospital procedures and share care plans during care and discharge
  • Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
  • Delegate tasks to clinical support staff as needed
  • Maintain nursing professional practice standards and align behaviors with OU Health values
  • Pursue mentorship, coaching, feedback, professional certification, and licensure development
  • Develop a professional career plan and performance goals aligned with enterprise-wide metrics
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing for RN I and RN II
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required for RN III
  • Current Registered Nurse License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire
  • RN I: 0-3 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse
  • RN II: 3-5 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse required
  • RN III: 5+ years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse required
  • Specialty certification(s) preferred for RN II and RN III
  • Knowledge of basic professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques
  • Skilled in computer applications designed to ensure quality and safety measures for patients
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards
