About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and implement Custodi’s strategic direction in alignment with the broader Our Common Home mission
  • Identify impactful initiatives and partnerships at local and national levels
  • Build and develop Custodi’s identity, people, culture, and governance
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a small, ambitious team
  • Establish trusted partnerships with community leaders, local actors, and organisations across Italy
  • Ensure underrepresented community perspectives inform the organisation’s strategy and work
  • Lead fundraising efforts with foundations, philanthropic donors, and institutional partners
  • Contribute to the financial sustainability of Custodi and the wider Our Common Home network
  • Represent Custodi in public discussions, events, and media
  • Contribute to constructive dialogue across Italian society
  • Manage financial, operational, and people-related processes
  • Maintain high standards of governance and accountability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort building initiatives from the ground up
  • Strong understanding of Italy's political, institutional, and cultural landscape
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, building organisations or initiatives, and fostering a collaborative and accountable culture
  • Experience designing and delivering initiatives that mobilise communities or influence public debate
  • Ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders, including community leaders, institutions, and funders
  • Familiarity with the Italian philanthropic landscape and confidence developing relationships with donors and partners
  • Native-level Italian
  • Good working knowledge of English; strong English skills are required
