About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead major cross-functional technology programmes, establishing objectives, delivery plans, milestones and success measures
  • Coordinate delivery across engineering, architecture, security, product and operational teams
  • Manage commitments, dependencies, capacity constraints and competing priorities
  • Maintain an integrated view of programme progress, risks, dependencies and decisions
  • Resolve delivery challenges and remove blockers across organisational boundaries
  • Anticipate risks, test delivery assumptions and develop credible plans
  • Establish proportionate programme controls, steering groups and reporting
  • Provide clear updates to Technology leadership, the Executive team and boards
  • Translate technical complexity into meaningful information about progress, risk and decisions
  • Improve programme standards, portfolio visibility and delivery ways of working
  • Work effectively with agile engineering teams, cloud technologies and structured planning where required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Successfully led large, complex technology programmes involving multiple teams, workstreams and senior stakeholders, with demonstrable outcomes
  • Experience influencing without authority across autonomous teams with competing priorities
  • Technical understanding sufficient to work confidently with engineers, architects, security specialists and technology leaders
  • Ability to recognise unrealistic commitments, navigate ambiguity, manage competing demands, and know when to challenge, intervene or escalate
  • Experience recovering programmes that have gone off track, resolving significant dependencies, or delivering against fixed deadlines and external commitments
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise updates for Executive and board-level stakeholders
  • Experience establishing programme controls, anticipating risks and using governance to enable decisions
  • Structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis
  • Experience with Jira or similar delivery tools
  • Proactive, collaborative and comfortable operating in ambiguity
  • Adaptability working with agile engineering teams and structured, milestone-based planning
  • Cyber security, technology resilience or business continuity experience is valuable but not essential
  • Cloud, infrastructure, platform or architectural transformation experience is valuable but not essential
  • Regulatory, compliance or audit-driven technology change experience is valuable but not essential
  • Significant technology procurement or supplier partnership experience is valuable but not essential
  • Complex organisational or operational change programme experience is valuable but not essential
