About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Services
- Design and implement Lakehouse and Warehouse data models, medallion architecture, and star-schema semantic models optimized for Direct Lake reporting
- Build, maintain, and optimize Fabric Notebooks using PySpark, Spark SQL, and/or Python
- Ingest, cleanse, and transform data at scale using Spark and Delta Lake performance best practices
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver actionable insights
- Implement data ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows using pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and notebooks
- Select appropriate Fabric tools based on complexity, performance, and maintainability
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipelines, notebooks, and data models for availability and accuracy
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies and industry regulations
- Document data models, architectures, processes, and workflows
- Stay current with Microsoft Fabric and Azure updates and recommend improvements
- Support deployment and maintenance of business intelligence and reporting platforms, including Power BI semantic models
- Work remotely from the United States with a secure, HIPAA-compliant workspace
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a similar role
- Proven hands-on experience building data models and Notebooks within Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse and/or Warehouse)
- Demonstrated experience writing PySpark/Spark SQL in a notebook environment for data transformation and pipeline development
- Strong programming skills in SQL and at least one language such as Python, Scala, or similar
- Experience designing and implementing complex data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, security best practices, and compliance standards
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business teams
- Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Services expertise, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake, Delta Lake, medallion architecture, Azure Data Factory/Fabric Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Lake
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and compliance standards
- Ability to work with Power BI and understand analytics requirements
- Microsoft certifications such as Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700), Azure Data Engineer Associate, or Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate are a plus, not required
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and stable Wi-Fi
- HIPAA-compliant work environment with secure workspace, no public Wi-Fi unless using a secure company-provided VPN, and compliance with HIPAA regulations
