About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Performs functions related to problem definition, data collection, interpretation, and analysis
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate
  • Serves as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders
  • Assesses and coordinates patient discharge planning needs with the patient/family and healthcare team
  • Assesses patient and family learning needs and provides education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn
  • Performs job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's degree or higher or Diploma in Nursing required upon hire
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing required within 5 years of employment in this position
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse and eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required upon hire
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification required within 45 days of employment
  • No experience required
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization
  • Works under general supervision
  • Must meet the physical demands of the clinical hospital role, including frequent standing, walking, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, reaching, talking, hearing, repetitive hand/arm movements, and keyboard data entry
  • High-risk hazardous drug exposure environment
