About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Load and unload equipment, materials, job-site debris, and maintain housekeeping according to PG&E safety standards
- Dig trenches and holes in an ergonomically safe manner
- Perform construction work in the field and in all weather conditions throughout the PG&E service territory
- Use and maintain various hand and power tools and equipment
- Assist apprentice line workers, journey line workers, Crew Leads, and equipment operators
- Pull cable and work with large rotating equipment
- Follow directions from journey line workers and/or supervisors
- Read and comply with company standards and procedures
- Work safely and collaboratively in a team environment
- Travel and transfer to new headquarters upon request, with potentially extended periods away from home
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License (or higher) by Day 1 of hire
- Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
- Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and various work schedules
- Ability to travel and transfer to a new headquarters upon request throughout the PG&E service territory
- Ability to work in remote locations with possible exposure to poison oak, snakes, spiders, bees, mosquitoes, ticks, and rodents
- Must be able to maneuver on steep and/or uneven terrain
- Ability to work around high voltage, energized, and/or large mechanical rotating equipment
- Must be able to wear company-provided PPE
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds over mountainous terrain, dams, canals, and/or up stairways and ladders
- Must be able to work in confined spaces and elevated areas
- Must be able to perform work from ladders, platforms, metal grating, scaffolds, and/or ropes
- Must be able to work with and/or around bodies of water and helicopters
- Desired: Class A California Driver's License
- Desired: Basic hand and power tool experience
- Desired: Underground trenching, excavation, restoration, and conduit installation experience
- Desired: Heavy equipment operation experience
- Desired: Safety tailboard and hazard recognition experience
- Desired: Physical labor, electrical construction, military, PG&E, or Hiring Hall experience
- Desired: PowerPathway® program graduation
- Must be able to receive and understand written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of construction and maintenance terminology, processes, and procedures
- May be subject to DOT-covered classification and random drug and/or alcohol screening
- Must complete applicable pre-employment testing and physical assessments
