About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead project teams and manage the engineering discipline, completing projects on time and within budget
  • Prepare narratives, calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Attend client meetings and lead coordination between external and internal project teams
  • Apply engineering judgment, techniques, and procedures from project concept through construction
  • Design and plan fire protection systems and layouts
  • Assemble project teams and develop workplans, tasks, and assignments
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary project activities
  • Apply building codes and NFPA fire protection standards
  • Oversee engineering calculations and equipment selection
  • Perform site visits and issue reports
  • Train, guide, and mentor staff
  • Update master specifications and standards and improve company processes
  • Develop client relationships
  • Determine fire protection and plumbing system requirements for various building types
  • Oversee application of the project quality management plan

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering for discipline work or equivalent experience
  • Relevant professional credential (i.e., PE, CPD)
  • Requires 7+ years of related work experience
  • Advanced understanding of fire protection design concepts and code knowledge
  • Strong delegation skills
  • Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and standards including UPC, IPC, NFPA, and IBC
  • Revit/AutoCAD
  • AutoSprink experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in fire protection, plumbing, and mechanical systems
