About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build a high-performing software development organization
Foster a modern learning culture and coach team leads
Contribute to product and development roadmaps
Define target technical architectures and ensure the scalability and performance of the software architecture
Implement and further develop hardware-near software architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems such as SVN and GitLab
Ensure security by design and high software quality
Integrate new cloud and AI technologies into existing architectures
Manage the portfolio, prioritization, and resource planning, taking technical risks, dependencies, and business value into account
Support teams in delivering work autonomously
Own supplier and technology management, including make-or-buy decisions and the management of external partners
Evaluate technology stacks and manage risks associated with external components
Further develop engineering processes such as Scrum, Kanban, OKRs, and SAFe/LeSS
Use delivery metrics such as lead time, deployment frequency, and defect rates for optimization
Coordinate with Architecture, Technology, the Executive Board, HR, and Product Management
Represent the software development organization externally
Ensure effective technical communication between teams and locations
Work with the COO on relevant decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Extensive experience in software development leadership roles
Ideally, experience with production-related or technical systems (CAD/CAM, CAE, simulation, mechanical engineering, manufacturing systems)
Expertise in modern, complex software architectures, DevOps, cloud architectures, and scalability, preferably in a product environment
Initial experience developing AI prototypes and integrating them into development processes
Demonstrated experience leading larger teams and managers
Agile mindset, hands-on approach, strong communication skills, and assertiveness
Experience in stakeholder management
Very good German language skills (C1)
International experience is a plus
Relevant experience in production and engineering software environments is desirable
Willingness to travel between locations for coordination
