About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Observe and record patient information pertinent to treatment plans
  • Welcome new patients through specific admission protocols
  • Assist with the patient discharge process
  • Maintain direct patient observation
  • Lead patient education, community, goal, and activity groups
  • Assist nursing staff by taking vital signs
  • Help patients perform activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Respond to patient situations including codes, behavioral outbursts, contraband attempts, and medical issues
  • Adjust therapeutic approaches to patient acuity, age, gender, and cultural considerations
  • Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Follow Voyages Behavioral Health policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Do not assume independent responsibility for patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by the state preferred
  • Current BLS certification is required
  • Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards required
  • No experience required
  • Two to three years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit preferred
  • Tier 2 PRN availability: 6 shifts per month, including 1 full weekend, 2 major holidays, and 1 minor holiday
  • Tier 3 PRN availability: 8 shifts per month, including 1 full weekend, 2 major holidays, and 1 minor holiday
