About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Observe and record patient information pertinent to treatment plans
- Welcome new patients through specific admission protocols
- Assist with the patient discharge process
- Maintain direct patient observation
- Lead patient education, community, goal, and activity groups
- Assist nursing staff by taking vital signs
- Help patients perform activities of daily living
- Frequently serve as the first responder to codes, behavioral outbursts, contraband attempts, and medical issues
- Adjust therapeutic approaches to patient acuity, age, gender, and cultural considerations
- Perform duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Follow Voyages Behavioral Health policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Do not assume independent responsibility for patient care
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current BLS certification is required
- Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards required
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by the state where the hospital resides preferred
- No experience required
- Two to three years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit preferred
- PRN Tier 2: provide six shift availability per month, including one full weekend, two major holidays, and one minor holiday
- PRN Tier 3: provide eight shift availability per month, including one full weekend, two major holidays, and one minor holiday
