About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Observe and record patient information pertinent to the treatment plan
  • Welcome new patients through specific admission protocols
  • Assist with the patient discharge process
  • Maintain direct patient observation
  • Lead patient education, community, goal, and activity groups
  • Assist nursing staff by taking vital signs
  • Help patients perform activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Respond first to patient situations including codes, behavioral outbursts, contraband attempts, and medical issues
  • Adjust therapeutic approach to acuity, age, gender, and cultural considerations
  • Perform duties consistently with Voyages Behavioral Health policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Work under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and do not assume independent responsibility for patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by state where the hospital resides preferred
  • Current BLS certification is required
  • Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards required
  • No experience required
  • Two to three years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit preferred
  • Tier 2 PRN availability: 6 shifts per month
  • Tier 3 PRN availability: 8 shifts per month
  • PRN availability must include one full weekend per month, two major holidays, and one minor holiday
