About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Report to the Chief Medical Officer for clinical matters and the Hospital Chief Executive Officer or designee for administrative matters
  • Provide full-time professional medical services to assigned hospital patients
  • Round on and consult for patients
  • Collaborate with facility leadership, staff, practitioners and consultants to develop, implement and evaluate patient-care policies and procedures
  • Identify, evaluate and resolve medical and clinical concerns affecting patient care, medical care or quality of life
  • Evaluate, diagnose, consult on and manage patients with physical or cognitive impairment and disability
  • Diagnose and treat painful or functionally limiting conditions and manage co-morbidities and co-impairments
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures and electro-diagnostic medicine
  • Prevent complications of disability from secondary conditions
  • Assess, stabilize and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions
  • Perform examinations for pain, weakness and numbness using diagnostic plans or treatment prescriptions
  • Evaluate, prescribe and supervise medical and comprehensive rehabilitation goals and treatment plans
  • Admit patients to inpatient or other levels of care
  • Perform general history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments and day 4 Plan of Care reviews
  • Review and approve pre-admission screenings
  • Perform Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation procedures
  • Provide prompt, courteous and competent professional services in accordance with accepted standards
  • Perform reasonably required administrative services
  • Prepare and maintain complete, accurate medical records and related reports, claims and correspondence, including PAS, IPOC, interdisciplinary team conference documentation, progress notes, admission orders and IRF-PAI
  • Assist with medical education, including curriculum development, supervision, evaluations, rounds, lectures, demonstrations, discussions and continuing education

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school
  • Current state medical license
  • Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is preferred
  • Current practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Leadership skills including inclusiveness, stewardship and resource management, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, quality improvement, teamwork, strategic planning and organizing
  • Ability to assist with medical education as requested
  • Full-time availability
