About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and produce detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for LV and HV network infrastructure
  • Prepare cost estimates, project documentation, and design reports
  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and feasibility assessments for customer connections and network extensions
  • Ensure all designs comply with network codes, safety standards, and engineering best practice
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal delivery teams to ensure seamless project execution
  • Support continuous improvement in design processes, technology adoption, and asset optimisation
  • Contribute to the development of sustainable and future-focused network solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A degree in Electrical / Power Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–5 years’ experience in distribution network or infrastructure design
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS, and design or modelling tools (e.g. PowerFactory, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of design standards, NZ electrical codes, and safety regulations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment
