About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Identify and acquire content for Golazo Network and related productions, including news conferences, interviews, and highlights
Conduct newsgathering across CBS Sports platforms and react immediately to breaking news and requests
Identify news and emerging storylines and gather content for storytelling
Provide story ideas and recommend content for soccer coverage
Proactively identify solutions for potential coverage issues
Hire freelance ENG crews and coordinate their needs
Ensure compliance with rights and clearance guidelines
Handle logistics under deadline
Plan schedules and calendars for soccer events and related coverage
Maintain regular communication with producers about content and show needs
Gather transmission information, including fiber, satellite, and streaming details
Work with media asset management to ensure games and content are recorded and archived
Coordinate with remote productions providing live and taped content
Work closely with editorial staff, Legal, and Business Affairs on content, rights, and clearance issues

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong knowledge of soccer across multiple leagues
Demonstrated depth of knowledge in fiber, satellite, cellular, FTP, and viral newsgathering procedures
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Experience with Internet searches and electronic newsgathering techniques, including social media best practices
Strong editorial judgment and resourceful content research ability
Understanding of sports media production and content creation for television, digital video, or social media
Ability to work nights, weekends, and flexible hours
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize assignments
Strong leadership, interpersonal, writing, and communication skills
Ability to work with limited supervision and in a team-oriented environment
Collaborative experience across departments
Proven ability to respond effectively to feedback under deadline pressure
2+ years of experience in a television- or digital-production related field
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent training and experience
Prior experience in sports journalism is a plus
