About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee product development of Paramount brands across all toy categories
- Review licensee submissions and respond in a timely manner
- Give comprehensible 3D comments to licensees
- Provide fully developed control drawings of characters or products when needed
- Follow product lines from concept through development and manufacturing milestones
- Attend licensees’ partner weekly meetings
- Problem-solve aesthetic and manufacturing issues, especially cost-reduction solutions
- Help ensure products are consistent with market and consumer trends
- Brainstorm new product concepts for existing and new Paramount properties
- Implement creative strategy
- Generate creative and innovative concepts based on design management direction
- Present concepts to the design team, business, and executive management
- Schedule production ancillary meetings with EIC when needed
- Assist in strategizing the future direction of established and new brands
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) or equivalent experience in Industrial Design/Toy Design/Entertainment Design
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in the Toy Manufacturing industry
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including injection molding and roto-molding
- In-depth knowledge of plastic materials, including polypropylene and ABS
- In-depth knowledge of soft goods, plush and dolls
- Basic knowledge of pattern making, construction, and fabrics
- In-depth knowledge of games and sporting goods
- Knowledge of manufacturing costs of a toy and cost reduction strategies
- Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to do quick hand sketches
- Ability to think creatively and conceptually, articulate vision verbally and visually, and problem solve
- Knowledge of the toy, licensing, and entertainment industry and current toy products
- Ability to work in a pressured and constantly changing environment
- Exemplary communication and presentation skills
- Decisiveness, high-energy, and a sense of humor
