About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee product development design of Paramount brands
- Work across all categories of toys and affiliated products
- Generate new opportunities to enhance Paramount brands
- Review licensee submissions and respond in a timely manner
- Provide 3D comments and fully developed control drawings for characters or products
- Maintain high quality, thoroughness, and attention to detail
- Attend licensees’ partner weekly meetings
- Solve aesthetic and manufacturing issues, including cost-reduction solutions
- Incorporate technological and innovative solutions into products
- Present concepts to design, marketing, creative, business, and executive management
- Brainstorm product concepts for existing and new Paramount properties
- Generate creative and innovative concepts based on design management direction
- Apply creative and strategic thinking to Paramount brands
- Ensure consistent character modeling and styling across Paramount properties
- Report to the VP of Design or Associate Art Director, Toys
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of experience
- Bachelor degree (BA, BS) or equivalent experience in Industrial Design/Toy Design/Entertainment Design and Illustration
- Knowledge of the toy, licensing and entertainment industry and current toy products
- Experience in the Toy Manufacturing and entertainment industry
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, roto-molding, etc.)
- Knowledge of plastic materials (polypropylene, ABS, etc.) and soft goods
- Knowledge/awareness of toy manufacturing costs and cost reduction strategies
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to do quick hand sketches
- Ability to think creatively and conceptually and articulate vision verbally and visually
- Ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
