About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee product development design of Paramount brands
- Work on all categories of toys and affiliated products
- Generate new opportunities to enhance Paramount brands
- Review licensee submissions and respond in a timely manner
- Provide comprehensible 3D comments to licensees and fully developed control drawings when needed
- Maintain a high level of quality, thoroughness, and attention to detail
- Attend licensees’ partner weekly meetings
- Solve aesthetic and manufacturing issues, especially cost-reduction solutions
- Incorporate technological and innovative solutions to enhance products
- Present and communicate concepts to design, marketing management, and creative departments
- Brainstorm new product concepts for existing and new Paramount properties
- Generate innovative concepts based on design management direction and present them to design, business, and executive management
- Apply creative and strategic thinking around Paramount brands
- Ensure consistent character modeling and styling across Paramount properties
- Report to the VP of Design or Associate Art Director, Toys
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of experience
- Bachelor degree (BA, BS) or equivalent experience in Industrial Design/Toy Design/Entertainment Design and Illustration
- Knowledge of the toy, licensing and entertainment industry and current toy products
- Experience in the Toy Manufacturing and entertainment industry
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, including injection molding and roto-molding
- Knowledge of plastic materials, including polypropylene and ABS, and soft goods
- Knowledge/awareness of manufacturing costs of a toy and cost reduction strategies
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Ability to do quick hand sketches
- Ability to think creatively and conceptually and articulate vision verbally and visually
- Ability to problem-solve and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Decisiveness, high-energy, and a sense of humor
