About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build, test, and release live streaming encoding platforms and video processing and publishing workflows
  • Develop and maintain automated QA systems integrated with continuous integration and deployment strategies
  • Perform end-to-end automation testing across video acquisition, processing, delivery, and playback
  • Define metrics and alerts for monitoring live streaming events and identifying reliability risks
  • Mentor and guide engineers while fostering collaboration and technical excellence
  • Increase QA workflow automation using internal services
  • Review test plans across different points in the video pipeline
  • Analyze test reports and document bugs
  • Create and maintain detailed test plans and test cases
  • Track defect resolution and coordinate with developers to prevent, report, and resolve defects
  • Provide QA support before and after deployment
  • Investigate live streaming workflow issues using logs and metrics, troubleshoot, and suggest mitigations
  • Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and availability between developers and internal customer teams
  • Test new product features and provide feedback for the video streaming platform
  • Interface with platform teams to build and test end-to-end video streaming workflows
  • Support video infrastructure QA and monitoring for major league launches such as UFC and NFL
  • Standardize regression practices and improve automation QA coverage

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience developing pytest automated test frameworks or similar, with familiarity with automated test strategies
  • Experience with distributed systems and QA strategies for fault-tolerant architectures
  • 7+ years of experience with live streaming video or distributed software QA
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to drive issues to resolution and provide root cause analysis
  • Experience with HLS, DASH, CMAF, SRT, Zixi, RTP, and RTMP
  • Experience with H264, HEVC, VP9, AV1, and AAC codecs
  • Knowledge of DRM, SCTE-104/35, closed captioning, and digital ad insertion
  • Experience with AWS Media Services or competing vendors
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and XML
  • Ability to work with internal business units and teams with varying technical backgrounds
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with Docker; Kubernetes preferred
  • Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or OCI and Terraform
  • Exposure to Python REST APIs, FastAPI, and Celery
  • BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Rust familiarity preferred
  • Live streaming operations experience preferred
  • Availability to provide occasional evening and weekend QA support
