About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Anchor sports segments across daily newscasts
- Deliver highlights, breaking sports news, enterprise stories, and conversational sports content
- Perform confidently on live television, including ad-libbing during breaking or developing coverage
- Report live and remotely from sporting events, press conferences, and community locations
- Develop and produce original enterprise sports stories
- Conduct interviews with athletes, coaches, sports executives, and community stakeholders
- Independently shoot, write, edit, and produce sports content for broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms
- Execute visual storytelling using natural sound, strong sequencing, and creative shot selection
- Meet daily deadlines while maintaining accuracy, fairness, and journalistic integrity
- Produce and adapt sports coverage for digital platforms, mobile apps, streaming, and social media
- Contribute engaging content that drives audience growth and aligns with station strategy
- Participate in daily editorial meetings and contribute story pitches
- Collaborate with producers, photographers, editors, and newsroom leadership
- Support major station initiatives, special coverage, and breaking news as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience as a Sports Anchor and/or Sports Reporter; top-20 market experience preferred
- Deep knowledge of professional, college, and high school sports
- Demonstrated ability to anchor, report, shoot, write, and edit content independently
- Strong on-camera presence and communication skills
- Willingness and availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
