About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver application programming and analysis tasks within the system development process
Provide application support, maintenance and enhancements
Gather requirements and perform programming duties for application projects and enhancements
Work with application development and maintenance teams
Work with business subject matter experts on application testing and remediation
Implement and maintain the Gas Royalty in Kind (GRIK) program
Liaise with business units and program areas to align solutions with ministry needs
Produce complex functional and technical designs with minimal defects
Define non-functional requirements including performance, availability, portability and recovery
Assess technical impacts and recommend application design improvements
Produce technical designs, database structures and application architecture
Review technical designs and recommend optimization
Execute or assist with performance and penetration testing
Troubleshoot system-level issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
Track and report time and work status
Create application lifecycle plans and coordinate release schedules
Identify service requests and priorities with customers
Coordinate testing and provide systems support and operational assistance

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experienced C, PowerBuilder and Sybase application system analyst
Preferably experience with Oil and Gas regulation
Ability to write application code using C, PowerBuilder, InfoMaker and Sybase SQL
Experience with the Solaris 11 platform
Ability to create desktop and web-based interfaces
Ability to design and implement SQL databases
Ability to collect and analyze business and user requirements
Ability to document business processes and applications
Ability to produce systems design manuals, technical manuals and reference manuals
Experience conducting unit, system and integration testing
Ability to develop, test and implement application changes using a controlled software release strategy
