About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the technical strategy, roadmap and delivery for Assets & Issuance
- Balance speed to market with reliability and controls for regulated institutional customers
- Review designs, pressure-test tradeoffs and lead hard technical decisions
- Build and grow the engineering team by hiring senior engineers and managers and developing emerging leaders
- Establish standards for on-call, incident response, root-cause analysis and operational-risk reduction
- Partner with Product, Security, Compliance and other control functions to design secure, auditable systems
- Break ambiguous problems into shippable pieces, set direction and adjust as needed
- Drive architecture for wallets and key management, ledgers, settlement and blockchain integrations
- Build an engineering organization using AI and modern tools to improve software development, testing and operations
- Represent engineering to executive leadership by translating technical complexity into priorities, tradeoffs and commitments
- Immerse in blockchain technology, digital assets and Paxos’s regulation-first approach
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years of software engineering experience
- 8+ years leading engineering teams, including experience managing managers
- Experience as an early engineer or engineering leader at a fast-growing company
- Experience building systems from scratch and scaling technology and engineering organizations
- Experience building and leading a sizable engineering organization, including managers
- Experience building and operating complex distributed systems where correctness, reliability and security are critical
- Meaningful depth in several areas: distributed systems, blockchain infrastructure, MPC or key management, high-availability systems, security-sensitive financial software
- Strong technical credibility with senior engineers
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and moving quickly without highly defined requirements
- Experience working effectively with Product, Security and Compliance
- Builder's instinct for solving technical and organizational problems
- Money-moving infrastructure experience strongly preferred
- Experience at both startup and scaled-company environments, regulated-environment experience, and direct blockchain protocol or smart contract experience are nice to have
- Ability to work in the United States
- Work authorization in the US and visa sponsorship status addressed in the application
