About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and build reliable, scalable microservices
Work with and transform legacy systems
Extract business logic from existing codebases and reimplement it in modern Python services
Ensure idempotency, data integrity, and graceful error handling across services
Build new features and refactor legacy modules
Design and consume external APIs
Work with webhooks, callbacks, and complex retry policies
Collaborate with stakeholders across departments in agile sprints
Apply a product-focused mindset to understand business logic and end-user impact
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or Kubernetes infrastructure
Propose and advocate for tools and technologies improving performance, security, or development speed
Report to the Technical Lead
Participate in technical screening, practical assessment, and final interview stages

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of backend engineering experience
Strong Python expertise
Deep AsyncIO proficiency
Production-grade experience with FastAPI
Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, including query design, schema understanding, and migration strategies
Experience writing unit and integration tests; pytest preferred
Expertise designing and consuming external APIs
Deep understanding of webhooks, callbacks, and complex retry policies
Willingness to take full ownership of high-traffic, always-up applications
Ability to operate independently within an established architectural vision
Comfort working in complex distributed environments
Ability to explain the reasoning behind every line of code shipped
Product-focused mindset and understanding of business logic and end-user impact
Strong written and verbal English
Experience with PHP, Perl, or JavaScript is a bonus
Kafka or Redis experience is a nice to have
Docker, CI/CD, or Kubernetes familiarity is a nice to have
Financial industry exposure is a nice to have
Experience migrating systems between languages or paradigms is a nice to have
