About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design HVAC systems for commercial and educational facilities, including load calculations, air-unit and chiller equipment selections, ductwork, pump and pipe sizing and layout
- Prepare QA/QC construction documents and provide design ideas and solutions
- Train or mentor Designers, Operators, and Engineers
- Develop and modify Revit models of plumbing and HVAC systems and components
- Review Revit modeling techniques based on engineering team and project manager input
- Manage Revit models and AutoCAD documents for multiple projects
- Oversee equipment schedules and make necessary changes and adjustments
- Use Revit to coordinate designs, identify interferences, and resolve conflicts with team members
- Interpret consultant design documents and design necessary HVAC systems
- Mentor and train designers and engineers in producing plans, sections, diagrams, equipment schedules, and drawings
- Organize documentation tracking project development and the design process
- Produce coordinated floor plans, riser diagrams, and isometrics for complex HVAC systems
- Monitor equipment and system installation for compliance with design specifications and safety codes
- Direct junior staff on HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, and sizing
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years of work experience with an engineering consultant
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering technology degree
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam
- Physical ability and willingness to conduct site inspections and fieldwork, including climbing ladders and walking on roofs
- Ability to self-assess and command a high level of accuracy
- PE Licensed
- Strong oral, written, and communication skills
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
- Project experience in the K-12 educational market
- Expert knowledge of MEP energy compliance calculations and Title-24 documentation using Energy Pro software
