About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain generators, diagnose and repair problems, install and replace components or entire systems, and perform maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment
- Conduct performance checks and regular generator maintenance
- Read and follow blueprints and design specifications for installation and repair
- Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring, controls, and other components
- Test equipment for proper operation
- Respond promptly to power/generator alarms
- Answer assigned phone and email promptly
- Work safely around hazards associated with power supply equipment, switchgear, and related equipment
- Use safety equipment and safety practices
- Attend designated safety and training meetings
- Travel throughout the region to service and repair commercial generators on cell phone towers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
- Two or more years of generator maintenance experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of generator installation, maintenance, and repair
- Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
- Moderate computer skills
- Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations
- Ability to comply with OSHA Standards
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for long periods
- Ability to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment/alarms visually and audibly
- Willingness and ability to drive long distances and work day, evening, or night hours
- Willingness to work overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned and be away from home for extended periods
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
