About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure underground, buried, and aerial plant facilities comply with current standards through field inspections and contractor-work verification
  • Perform audits, inspections, and pole transfers
  • Document findings electronically and manually using printed spreadsheets when needed
  • Use mapping/GPS technology to locate and verify plant infrastructure
  • Communicate via email and cellular phone with client and vendor management
  • Interface with construction crews, vendors, and client stakeholders
  • Travel to field sites as needed, including some overnight stays
  • Maintain records of inspections, audits, and corrective actions
  • Identify issues and guide corrective actions to support project success and network reliability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous experience performing NESC inspections or working on an aerial cable line crew
  • Experience conducting wooden pole ground line inspections
  • Proficiency in OSP Construction Standards
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office products
  • Familiarity with Microsoft MapPoint preferred, not required
  • Comfort with internet use and web-based applications
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Experience managing construction contractors in the field
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexibility to travel on short notice
  • Candidates must reside within one hour of Billings, Montana or the surrounding area
